We’re on YouTube!! I can hardly believe it. But we are jumping in with both feet and taking you along with our family for our homesteading adventures on YouTube this year! You can expect a new post every week, as we share our daily life and new projects on our 1/3 of an acre homestead. We hope you’ll join… Keep Reading
Did you know that cough syrup is no longer recommended by the APA? For any children, but especially under the age of 4. Is that surprising?! So what’s a mama to do when her babies are suffering??
Dishes piled high in the sink, and a load in the dishwasher. A random load of laundry in the washer…left there forgotten from yesterday. Kids toys all over the house. A toilet that has needed cleaning for…too long. An extra trip to town to grab a forgotten ingredient for dinner. Grabbing take-out way too often, just because life is so… Keep Reading
Goodbye 2016. Hello 2017. It’s such an inspiring time of year, right? It’s time for some reflection and homesteading goals! This past year was so full of growth for our family. While our homesteading progress was slower then I’d like, we still made a huge garden expansion, and learned so much about Back to Eden gardening (through successes and failures!).

Truly, he’s the happiest little soul I’ve… Keep Reading
Look at her, all smug up there… Y’all, is it festivus? Because I need to air some grievences about my chickens. When you get them as cute little fluff balls, you’re dreaming of fresh eggs. Things like chicken *%$# on your porch are the furthest thing from your mind… But good gracious…the poo. The chicken poo is everywhere, and it’s… Keep Reading
We had our first case of broodiness hit our flock of hens this summer. There are ways to break a broody hen from her broodiness. Many articles have been written on the subject. But we decided to take this as a golden opportunity to raise baby turkeys – the easy way.
We did it. We took a big step in homesteading. We butchered our first chicken. Last fall we picked up a few straight run dual-purpose chicks. We got more then we needed to cover any accidental chick deaths, and any “surprise” roosters, which would be destined for the dinner table. We had one chick die, and miraculously, only one of… Keep Reading
