Alright ladies, whether it’s planned because you do the no-poo method, or just shampoo every other day, or your kiddos kept you too busy to hop in the shower, we all know it happens – some days we just don’t wash our hair. That’s not always a bad thing, shampooing everyday can do a number on your hair! But all the same, I find that sometimes my hair needs a pick-me-up on the days I don’t shampoo.
True to form, the beauty industry has come up with yet another expensive, chemical-laden product for women to use just for this issue – dry shampoo. Not only is it expensive, but it’s full of junk. No thank you. Being the diy natural kinda girl I am, I’ve tried corn starch instead and while that works to a certain extent, I have daarrrrk brown hair. So all those corn starch and baking soda recipes on Pinterest, just make my hair look grey….no thanks, again. Then I saw an idea for using straight up cocoa powder…I thought this was it! It wasn’t. It made my hair sticky, and my fingers turned brown every time I ran them through my hair…
So after some contemplation, I figured, why not just combine the two?? And eureka! Natural Dry Shampoo (for all you brunettes out there) was born. No grey hair, no sticky hair. Just freshened up hair. You’re welcome, friends.
2 Tb Baking Soda
2 Tb Arrowroot Powder
2 Tb Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp Cinnamon
Step 1: Whisk all ingredients together and store in a air tight container.
Step 2: To use, gently tap a large make-up brush into the powder and shake off excess – you don’t need a lot. Then tap the brush onto the greasy areas of your hair. Wait a few minutes – brush your teeth or something like that, then flip your head upside down and finger comb through your hair.
Then enjoy your non-toxic, non-greasy, and non-GREY hair!
