Remember when I mentioned I found a second garden location?? Well this weekend I designed it, prepped the site, and planted it! Wanna see??
I decided to plant squash in the main garden rather then potatoes, like I had originally planned. I found a nice 14’x 2′ area next to the house that would do nicely for a shady garden area. Since it’s an experiment, I decided to only plant 14 square feet and see how it fairs. I read that potatoes and beans do well in shady areas, and I know that beans put nitrogen into the soil, so rather then amending it I decided to try planting the beans and potatoes next to each other. We’ll see how it turns out!
Then I had to rip out the weed barrier cloth, and roots/vines. This little guy was helping me out! I’m not sure if rabbits are typical garden tillers, but Tundra definitely took his job seriously!
While working on clearing the garden space out, I came across two other happy little garden friends….
Over the weekend the potatoes will be sitting out getting ready to be planted on Monday.
