I know it’s not technically spring yet, and I know that most of the country is still super cold. But notwithstanding the weird weather fluctuations we’ve been experiencing here, it’s starting to really feel like spring. So I’ve been inspired to spring-ify (it’s a word, just go with it) the house a bit. I thought I’d share a couple little projects I’ve done to make our house feel more like the pretty weather!
I made this wreath for our front door. When I say ‘made’ I really mean it too, I used up the grape vines I pruned to make the wreath! This idea came purely out of the ‘I don’t want to drive 30 minutes into town to buy a wreath’ situation. Then I thought, ‘hey! I bet I could make one with those grape vines the kids have strewn all over the yard!’ Clean up the yard and get a wreath! Win win!
I would have made a little tutorial, but it’s so simple that it seemed silly. I just braided three of the vines and then wrapped the ends together to make a circle. Then I simply wrapped more vines around that base of braided vines, weaving and tucking the ends in where they would fit. Then I hot glued the flowers on. Sweet right?
I’ve also been really inspired by all the rag rug tutorials I’ve seen floating around the internet lately. On the days it isn’t raining the kiddos go out and play and when they come inside they track in mud and it’s kinda driving me nuts…I’ve got door mats outside the front and back doors, but still it seems like the whole back yard gets into my house everyday. So on a very very rainy day when we were cooped up in the house, I did a little scrap busting and started working on the cutest little rag rug to sit in front of my back door. Two broken needles and a trip into town for a new heavy duty needle later, it’s finally finished. I love it!
Happy Spring! If you’re still in a snowy and cold part of the world, don’t hate me!;)
